BLACKBIRD HEALTH NEWS

Faster access to vital support for young patients

By Dr. Nicole Garber

At Blackbird Health, we understand that timely access to mental health care is not just important, it's crucial—especially for our young patients. A troubling national average shows that it can take 11 years* from the initial signs of a mental health concern for treatment to begin, often at a point when the condition has significantly worsened. This delay is a challenge we are actively working to overcome. *Source: Health Services Research

That's why we are excited to announce a new, 2-step intake designed to provide your patients with faster access to mental health care. We've simplified our new patient process to ensure that care begins promptly and easily. Here's how it works.

1. Over the phone, on email, or through our online form, patients provide basic details like family information and insurance coverage.

2. Patients complete a virtual New Patient Evaluation. Within 24 hours of completing this, patients who need therapy will receive a link to schedule an appointment with their new therapist. Patients with more complex needs will have a diagnostic review to go over the assessments and other types of recommended support.

To make things even simpler, we’re pleased to share that we've transitioned our EHR to Athena. As part of this transition, our new Blackbird Patient Portal offers an easier way for patients to manage their care and communicate with their Care Team.

Through our new Patient Portal, patients can now:

Self-schedule appointments: Easily view their provider’s availability and choose convenient times that fit their schedule.

Join telehealth appointments: Access their virtual sessions directly with ease.

Communicate with their Care Team: Send questions, share updates, and request appointments or prescription refills.

Manage billing and records: Conveniently make payments, update information, and access medical records.

We're also excited to announce that pediatricians can now refer patients directly to Blackbird Health through our HIPAA-compliant online referral form, which takes under 2 minutes to complete. When your office fills out this form, we’ll follow up with the family within 1-2 business days, keeping you informed on your patients' progress. You and your patients can expect fast follow-up, insurance verification, and easy scheduling.
